Please be sure you read our Terms, Conditions and Cancellation Policy before beginning the registration process. All VFP volunteers must be members of our organization ~ Join now!. We will not process your registration until we receive your $350 ($500 for teens or families) registration fee. Once we receive your registration form and start your placement we have a strict $150 fee to change your selection. Please be sure you select only projects you want to attend.

  1. Search the Volunteer Project List to find projects that interest you. Since there are so many projects to select from you might want to narrow your search by entering only the dates you are available to travel or selecting only those countries you are interested in. You can also search on project type or type of work if you know the specific focus you would like. If you are under 18 select “TEEN” and if you want to travel with your family select “Family project” under Type of Project. If you click on the small wheelbarrow to the left of the Project Code it will save that project in your shopping cart. Feel free to select as many projects as you are interested, you will narrow your selection next. For detailed information on how use the directory, please review our Project List User Guide.

  2. Register for a project. In the upper right corner of your screen you will see "Total Projects in My Selections". Once you have selected one or more projects you are interested in you can click "See the List" and from there "Open Registration Form". Complete the form making sure to enter information in every field with a *.

    1. The programs you have selected will appear on the form or you can search for other programs from here.
    2. You are required to list three choices of programs. If you are only interested in one program you must copy and paste the code so it appears as your 1, 2, and 3 choice.
    3. Pay special attention to the format of dates! We use European-style dates in the DD/MM/YYYY format.
    4. If you are traveling with a friend be sure to indicate that on the registration form in the appropriate field.
    5. If you prefer you can download and complete the VFP Registration Form and email/fax or surface mail it as directed on the form to VFP.

  3. Be sure you have read our Terms, Conditions and Cancellation policy.

  4. Pay the VFP Membership & Registration Fee. You can do this from the pop-up screen or confirmation email you receive after completing the online registration, by clicking here, by visiting the Register for a Project section of our site, by completing credit card information on the back of a downloaded VFP registration form, or by mailing a check to us. As soon as we receive your registration form and payment you will receive an email from us with a personal login and access code so you can track your placement.

  5. Wait for acceptance. We usually confirm placement within 3-5 business days for short-term projects and 1-2 weeks for medium and long-term projects. As soon as we have confirmation of your acceptance into a project we will email you an Acceptance Letter. If we can not place you in a project you can either make another selection or we will refund your entire registration fee. The VFP membership fee is not refundable.

  6. Make your Travel Arrangements! Once you have acceptance in a project you can arrange and pay for transportation to and from the project location as well as make any arrangements for passport, visas, and vaccinations. Check out our Volunteer Resources section for details and assistance with this step.

  7. Receive your Project Information Sheet. At least four weeks prior to the project start date we will email you a detailed information sheet for your specific project. Please keep your eye out for this. It contains important information about what to bring, more details on the work, a contact for you at your project and additional details.
