VFP organizes 40-50 voluntary service projects in the United States each year. We exchange volunteers with our international partners, who organize the projects taking place in their own countries.

Educational and Fun ~ International volunteer projects bring people from four or more countries together in a cooperative effort to live, work and have fun. Volunteers leave the project with a strong sense of achievement, creating friendships that overcome cultural differences.

Short-Term Placements ~ We specialize in 2-3 week workcamp placements, but also offer medium and long term placements. We offer volunteer abroad projects for teens, adults, seniors and family groups. There are a wide variety of international voluntary service projects available that arise from grassroot needs, including sustainable agriculture, environmental protection, helping the elderly and orphans, teaching, as well as archaeological projects, construction, renovation - something for everyone!

Affordable ~ VFP's basic fee is $300 for a multi-week international volunteer placement. This includes food, accommodation and work materials. Volunteers arrange and pay for their own transportation. In developing countries, there are additional fees payable upon arrival that vary depending on the hosting organization. We offer a refund of $50 in most situations where volunteers have to pay an extra fee. Read more

HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

A volunteer has helped NEGES and VFP set up a clinic and relief project in Leogane Haiti. Volunteers For Peace is currently seeking two medics (volunteers with medical training ~ doctors, nurses, physicians assistants, EMTS etc), a carpenter and three nursery care workers to go to Haiti immediately. Email info@vfp.org with your resume if you are able to participate now. Volunteers must be aware that the conditions are extremely harsh. We will send you details about participating.

We plan on listing additional ongoing projects in the future. Please Email info@vfp.org and put HAITI in the subject line to be added to the list to receive updates regarding relief project/s when they become available.

Please note that VFP is not accepting monetary donations for Haitian relief at this time. We may begin fundraising soon once we have a clear budget for the projects. All donations will go 100% to Haitian relief.

Dr. Robert Belenky is a great friend of VFP. He is a US citizen who has been involved with service projects in Haiti dating back ten years or more. His advice on taking action now is viewable at:

Thank you so much for your interest in helping the people of Haiti recover from this disaster.
