Volunteers For Peace offers projects in Turkey every year for volunteers ages 18+. Turkey was in the top 10 popular destinations for VFP volunteers in 2011! The VFP registration fee is always $350 and for most projects in Turkey, that's the only fee. Short-term, long-term and group opportunities are available!
One part of our service project was interacting with Turkish kids, our age, as well as with local people playing on the beach, and the people who we shared our camp with. This was difficult sometimes because of the language barrier, but I learned hand and body signals over time.
