The community: The town of Cumbaya, 15 minutes bus ride from Quito.
Theme and activities of the
project: Support low income, native community. Help the teachers and kids in
the public school, with English and Math classes, organizing sports and art
activities.
Help in the community child care
center, caring for about 40 babies and small kids, helping in the kitchen and
feeding the babies and little kids.
Some of the volunteers will work
in the local school which is grades 2 to 7, with 200 students. Some will work
in the child care center.
Accommodation: 2 volunteers
residences for 4 people each. Bathrooms with hot water, kitchen, dining and
living room facilities.
Special activities and excursions
may be organized on weekends.
FEVI - FUND FOR INTERCULTURAL EDUCATION AND INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER WORK IN ECUADOR - FEVI is a non-profit, non-governmental, non religious organization dedicated to promote international education and volunteer service, to increase and improve the level of contact among different cultures, to stimulate intercultural sensibility and to prevent social exclusion. FEVI promotes peace, solidarity, friendship, tolerance, and mutual understanding so that we can construct a better world. FEVI encourages intercultural learning through international cultural exchange programs. FEVI, to achieve these goals, provides different international programs among which youth mobility projects have a very important role: through these exchange programs, young people are encouraged to go to another country for a youth exchange doing volunteer service. FEVI is both, a sending organization for volunteers and a co-coordinating organization for different host projects, with local organizations.
