Volunteer Voices

I would strongly encourage anyone to volunteer in Lumbisi who would approach the experience with and open mind and wants to share in the Indigenous culture. I found it a very rewarding experience and became fast friends with the other volunteers. I choose to extend my travels a week beyond the volunteer experience and ended up traveling with one of the other female volunteers from Volunteers for Peace. We went to Otavalo, Banos and Tena during our free time in Ecuador. The program is very flexible and there is free time on weekends if you want to arrange a day trip. The weekends are also a good opportunity to spend time with your host family. I would encourage anyone to see as much of Ecuador as they can. It is a very beautiful and varied country with mountains, coasts and jungle. It is also very easy to travel by bus and fairly safe.\\\"
