Volunteer Voices
The trip was organized very well. Our workdays were scheduled out for us and plans were made to keep us busy and having fun during our free time. We worked during the week and some days on the weekends, depending on if we would be working all 5 days during the week. The best part of the trip was meeting all of the other volunteers from around the world. Having a chance to meet people from different parts of the globe is something that is invaluable. I have maintained contact with the people I met during the trip, both locals and other volunteers, and I look forward to meeting with them at some point during the future. I will know that I will always have friends in these different countries, and they know that they have a friend in the USA if they ever come to visit. It gave me a chance to learn about other cultures while at the same time letting people know about America. I now hope to be able to travel back to Italy next year and visit everyone I met in Scafa. We laughed at the similarities between ourselves that were unexpected, like our taste in music and movies. It did not take more than 24 hours for everyone to become really open and easy going with each other, and everyone on the trip seemed to mesh together really well.”
