I am so glad I made this choice. Being in Morocco was not what I had expected, but definitely a worthy experience. Moroccans are the most welcoming people I have ever met. I can\'t tell you how many people insisted that I come back and stay with them in the future. They are a people that enjoy being close to others and envelope newcomers with open arms. My work camp in Rabat was housed in a school. We spent two weeks painting all the classrooms and landscaping the property. As a teacher I can totally appreciate the value of having a clean and refreshed environment for students. Being in the school highlighted for me the huge difference in Americans schools. We often complain that our schools do not provide enough materials for our students. We insist that our schools have all the essentials such as heating and cooling. This school in Rabat is a long way from the American standards. Despite this there was great pride in the parent association that greeted us. Their gratitude at the end of the project exemplified their desire to educate children no matter what the circumstances. (Aside from some language issues) my trip was all that I could have wished for. Having done a camp for four summers in a row, I am thankful for VFP for offering these work camps. Your company makes it so easy to get out there and be a volunteer. Your efforts are truly appreciated.”
