Volunteer Voices
I had had expected the agricultural work to be monotonous and laborious, but to my surprise, the field work that the volunteers participated in was not very strenuous at all. Our camp definitely had a laid-back atmosphere, with plenty of laughing and games during our leisure time. Everyone got along with one another, and we all quickly became close friends. The best part of the camp was meeting teens from other countries -- Taiwan, France, Canada, South Korea...and discovering that they\'re not so different from me. We were able to bond over our shared interests, such as American music and movies, as well as the new experiences we encountered. The tranquil, gorgeous scenery of the Gangwha Island countryside took all our breaths away. Whether it was pulling weeds from rice paddies, throwing mud at each other at the tidal pool beach, or sharing a blueberry filled pizza crust in Myeongdong, we all had fantastic fun My amazing experience at this workcamp has definitely made me consider participating in another workcamp with Volunteers For Peace next summer, as well as cultural exchange programs during the school year. Thank you VFP!\"
