Volunteer Voices

My volunteer experience was in Scotland with Over the Wall. It is an organization that provides kids with serious illnesses the opportunity to come to camp for a week and focus on just being kids. The week I was there was for the siblings of sick kids. Over the Wall has a week in the spring and summer for the siblings to come to camp and have some fun. Camp was located on a college campus so everyone was housed in a dormitory. The rooms were very nice and spacious. The entire campus was lovely. There was even a castle on the grounds! We ate our meals in a cafeteria and the staff was very nice. There was always a good selection of fresh fruit and yogurts. We had a nice selection on choices for every meal.

Being at camp was one of the most fun and rewarding experiences of my life. I felt like a kid again myself. It was a nice change of pace from my everyday life. I loved meeting everyone, campers and fellow volunteers alike, and I feel I came away with many new friendships. I hope to repeat my experience at Over the Wall camp for many years to come.\"
