Volunteer Voices

In the summer of 2008 I found myself on the border of Spain in Aldeia de Sao Sebastiao, Portugal. My lodgings were comfortable, the food was amazing, but I was most influenced by the people who surrounded me. The other student volunteers and I woke up every morning to paint and do work on the community center of the village, along with the help of the Portuguese children. Together our small group represented five countries, and we spent our time trading stories and getting to know about one another's cultures.”
